The Eagle Mustangs will square off against the Owyhee Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Eagle is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
Eagle's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Rocky Mountain as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won 14 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Owyhee faced Mountain View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Storm didn't even let the Mavericks on the board, marking the Storm's second-straight 5-0 shutout. The Storm's pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last five contests.
Hailey Bock was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Saylor Shoemaker was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Hailey Brennan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Owyhee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View struck out 15 times.
Eagle's record is now 20-5-1. As for Owyhee, their record now sits at 23-2.
Eagle came out on top in a nail-biter against Owyhee when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
