Baseball Recap: Cassville Wildcats vs. Diamond Wildcats
Cassville extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-8-1 in the process. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Diamond. Cassville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Diamond apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
As for Diamond, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
For Diamond's part, Maddox Youngblood was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cassville will venture away from home to square off against McDonald County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Diamond, they will head out to take on Purdy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.8, the Eagles 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
