Indian Rocks Christian will be up against a hot Clearwater Central Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Marauders blew past Gadsden County, posting a 49-0 win. That 49 point margin sets a new team best for the Marauders this season.
Clearwater Central Catholic's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Corey Simms, who rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one score. Another signal caller making a difference was Khayse Barrett, who threw for 104 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 90% of his passes.
Clearwater Central Catholic's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Dicarieze Williams, Alden Sherman, and Cerrious Wynn, who each picked up one sack apiece. Clearwater Central Catholic received some extra help from Harrell Clyde, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Indian Rocks Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They strolled past Cambridge Christian with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 31-16. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.
Clearwater Central Catholic better keep an eye on Ocean Tualatai. He was instrumental in Indian Rocks Christian's win, rushing for 154 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, while also picking up 30 receiving yards. Jackson Rockefellar was another key rusher, rushing for 106 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Indian Rocks Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
Indian Rocks Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Winston Mason and Reece Barbaro. Another thorn in Cambridge Christian's side was Wesley Keller, who picked up three sacks and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Indian Rocks Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Clearwater Central Catholic has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Indian Rocks Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 97 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
