Baseball Recap: Thornton Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Marshwood

Thornton Academy faced Marshwood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Trojans fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 2-1. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Beck Edgerly was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over ten innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Thornton Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2-1. As for Marshwood, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
