Recap: Desert Heights Prep Yote vs. Valley Lutheran Flames

This season hasn't been kind to the Desert Heights Prep Yote, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They fell 66-53 to Valley Lutheran on Wednesday. Desert Heights Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Valley Lutheran apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Despite the defeat, Desert Heights Prep had strong showings from Luke Beck, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Darron Flores, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Flores scored a full 39.6% of Desert Heights Prep's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Joey Gall was another key contributor, scoring five points.

Desert Heights Prep's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Valley Lutheran, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Desert Heights Prep will head out on the road to face off against Mayer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Valley Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Phoenix Day School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Phoenix Day School for the Deaf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 on Saturday.
