Softball Game Preview: Arlington Eagles vs. Marysville Getchell

The Arlington Eagles will venture away from home to take on Marysville Getchell at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Arlington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Marysville Getchell's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Arlington turned things around against Lake Stevens on Thursday. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 6-1.

Peyton Aanstad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Arlington lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Marysville Getchell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Marysville-Pilchuck with a sharp 20-2 victory on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Marysville Getchell considering their two-run performance the game before.

Arlington's record is now 5-7. As for Marysville Getchell, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-8.

Arlington came out on top in a nail-biter against Marysville Getchell in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 10-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
