Baseball Game Preview: Le Roy Oatkan Knights vs. Geneseo Blue Devils

The Le Roy Oatkan Knights will square off against the Geneseo Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Le Roy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Geneseo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Le Roy will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Avon on Wednesday. The Oatkan Knights were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Braves. Considering the Oatkan Knights have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Geneseo had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Golden Gophers.

Cooper Warner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Preston Granger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Bryce Patterson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run.

Geneseo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in eight consecutive contests.

Le Roy's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Geneseo, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

Everything went Le Roy's way against Geneseo when the teams last played back in April, as Le Roy made off with a 9-3 win. Will the Oatkan Knights repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
