Baseball Recap: Lake Catholic Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Lake Catholic entered their tilt with Padua Franciscan on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Bruins. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 5-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Patrick Radigan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

In other batting news, Pete Malchesky was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Tyler Hribar was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Lake Catholic pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Padua Franciscan, they moved to 12-7 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Padua Franciscan will take on Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Catholic will be paying especially close attention to the Bruins' game: after the Bruins face off against the Royals, they'll take on Lake Catholic again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
