Vestaburg extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-14-1 in the process. They fell 8-5 to the Fulton Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 on Friday.
Jansen Scholer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Blake Rasmussen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Fulton, the win was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games.
On Fulton's side, Bryson Sattler was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sattler has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Jared Akin looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Parker Duflo, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Wyatt King was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Coming up, Vestaburg will square off against Marion at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fulton, they will take on Cadillac in a tournament on Saturday.
