Softball Recap: Cibola's Undefeated Season over After 11 Games

Cibola managed to slip by La Cueva the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Cibola lost 24-4 to La Cueva on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since April 3, 2024.

Presley Peek-Ruscetti was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Ava Benavidez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cibola fell to 10-1. As for La Cueva, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Cibola Cougars challenge Valencia Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Cueva, they will take on Robertson in a tournament on Friday.
