Baseball Game Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Merrillville Pirates

The Munster Mustangs will face off against the Merrillville Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Munster fell victim to Hanover Central and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Wildcats. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Merrillville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against La Porte, falling 7-1.

Merrillville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Munster, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Everything went Munster's way against Merrillville in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Munster made off with a 22-1 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
