Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hemingway). They snuck past the Johnsonville Flashes with a 63-58 victory on Friday. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly five points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hemingway to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nasir Brooks, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jamer Wright, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards.
The win made it two in a row for Hemingway and bumps their season record up to 3-10. As for Johnsonville, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hemingway will square off against Hannah-Pamplico at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Johnsonville, they will face off against Carvers Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
