Recap: Luther Lions vs. Chandler Lions
After flying high against the Bethel Wildcats last Friday, The Luther Lions came back down to earth. Luther lost to Chandler on the road by a decisive 37-20 margin on Friday. Luther lost against Chandler in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 20-0 score last time.
Despite the loss, Luther still got an impressive performance from Ruben Vega, who rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Vega has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played.
Chandler got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braxton Estes out in front who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes. Carson Clagg and his 203 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Chandler's victory.
Luther's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Chandler, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Luther does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Chandler will be playing in front of their home fans against Alva at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alva will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Chandler is ranked 45th).
