Basketball Game Preview: Weatherford Eagles vs. Newcastle Racers

The Weatherford Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Newcastle Racers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Weatherford is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Last Tuesday, Weatherford was fully in charge, breezing past Chickasha 74-23. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 27 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle earned a 49-41 win over Tuttle on Tuesday. Given the Racers' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Tigers are ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Weatherford's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.7 points. As for Newcastle, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Weatherford strolled past Newcastle in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 57-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weatherford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
