Softball Recap: Edmonson County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Edmonson County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Grayson County Cougars. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Julie Norris spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Price, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Davis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Edmonson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Edmonson County moved to 11-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Grayson County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Edmonson County is taking a road trip to challenge Warren East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grayson County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hopkins County Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
