Baseball Recap: Unicoi County Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Unicoi County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Mitchell Mountaineers. Four seems to be a good number for the Blue Devils as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Kolby Jones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Delgado, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Unicoi County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Mitchell, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Looking ahead, Unicoi County will head out to square off against Dobyns-Bennett at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mitchell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Owen at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
