Recap: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Mount Miguel Matadors
It was a good run, but the El Capitan Vaqueros unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 64-56 to Mount Miguel. The matchup was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but El Capitan was outscored by Mount Miguel in the second.
El Capitan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chance LaChappa, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Jason Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Mount Miguel found their leader in underclassman Jasen Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Sydney, who scored 17 points.
El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Mount Miguel, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
El Capitan will be playing at home against Monte Vista at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monte Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 577 points over their last eight matches. Mount Miguel's road trip will continue as they head out to face El Cajon Valley at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
