Softball Recap: Covington Chargers vs. Munford Cougars
Covington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Munford Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Covington of the 11-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.
Micayla Scott led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Hamm, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.
Covington's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Munford, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covington will take on Arlington at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Arlington is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Munford, they will head out on the road to face off against Ripley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
