Recap: Gilbert Christian Knights vs. Fountain Hills Falcons

The Gilbert Christian Knights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against Fountain Hills by a score of 57-46. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gilbert Christian also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2023.

Lopemi. Omole was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kamari Stanbury, who scored eight points.

Fountain Hills lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keaton Ort, who scored 15 points. Ort scored a full 32.6% of Fountain Hills' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Fitzherbert, who scored nine points.

Gilbert Christian's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.0 points per game. As for Fountain Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilbert Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Yuma Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on January 6th. Yuma Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Gilbert Christian is ranked 37th). As for Fountain Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Camp Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Camp Verde's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
