Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Union

Union waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Ben Lomond Scots get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-0 back in March.

Haylee Moynier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Union got a massive performance out of Payzlei Parrish, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Parrish a new career-high. Teddy Oleen was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Union hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Lomond struck out eight times.

Union's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Ben Lomond, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, Union and Ben Lomond will both be playing Grantsville the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Scots will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
