Softball Recap: San Pedro Takes Down Kennedy in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, San Pedro rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Kennedy Cougars. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Caroline Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brianna Rodela, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Breya Ventura, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

San Pedro hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive matchups.

San Pedro's win bumped their record up to 17-3. As for Kennedy, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-9 record.

As of now, neither San Pedro nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
