Softball Game Preview: West Wolfpack vs. Mountain House Mustangs

The West Wolfpack will square off against the Mountain House Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

West is leaving town to face Mountain House after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Wolfpack fell 3-0 to Tokay on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jia Camacho, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Mountain House made easy work of Edison on Tuesday and carried off a 21-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Mackenzie Coffman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Coffman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Ruiz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Townsley, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Mountain House always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edison only posted an OBP of .316.

West couldn't quite get it done against Mountain House in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 as they fell 4-0. Can the Wolfpack avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
