Volleyball Preview: Badger Braves vs. Cardinal Huskies
The Badger Braves will head out to take on the Cardinal Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Badger is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Last Wednesday, Badger didn't have quite enough to beat Maplewood and fell 3-2. While the Braves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rockets 25-23 in the first set.
Badger took Maplewood into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 15-12.
Despite the defeat, Badger got top-tier performance from Gabriella Miller, who had 24 digs, 11 kills, and four blocks. Miller is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylin Harnett, who had 19 digs, five kills, and 11 assists.
Even though they lost, Badger kept the net locked down and finished the game with 11 blocks. That's the most blocks they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Meanwhile, Cardinal got the win against Maplewood on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.
Cardinal was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.
Badger's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Cardinal, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.
