Softball Recap: Roxana Gets the Win

Roxana took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Southwestern, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Shells had just enough and edged out the Piasa Birds 9-7. While the Shells didn't have the best season last year (they finished 0-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ava Cherry was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylah Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Roxana's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. As for Southwestern, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-6 record.

Roxana wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-2 defeat against Columbia on the 14th. As for Southwestern, they have also already played their next game, an 8-1 loss against Quincy Notre Dame on the 16th.
