Softball Game Preview: Mercer Mustangs vs. Cambridge Springs Devils

The Mercer Mustangs will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Cambridge Springs Devils at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mercer is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Laurel. Mercer walked away with a 6-3 victory over Laurel on Tuesday.

Angelina Eakman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Eakman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Emma Stoepfel was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Farren Baldwin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Cambridge Springs earned a 7-4 win over Franklin on Wednesday.
