Basketball Recap: Statesboro Starts Season with Victory Against Richmond Hill + How To Watch

Statesboro gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They managed a 59-54 victory over the Richmond Hill Wildcats. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ja'Caiden Cone was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyterious James, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Despite the loss, Richmond Hill still got an impressive performance from Drew Nudo, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was DJ Porter, who posted eight points and three steals.

Richmond Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Statesboro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-43 victory against Southeast Bulloch on the 24th. As for Richmond Hill, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd.
