Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Doherty Spartans

Liberty hasn't had much luck against Doherty recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Liberty Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Doherty Spartans at 7:00 p.m.

Liberty lost 55-31 to Vista Ridge on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Wolves are ranked 34th).

Samira Gantt put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That was a full 41.9% of Liberty's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Hill, who put up seven points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Doherty took their matchup on Saturday with ease, bagging a 60-15 win over Rampart. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Doherty pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.4 points over those games. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
