Softball Recap: Newton Braves vs. Kittatinny Regional Cougars
Newton was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Kittatinny Regional Cougars by a score of 7-4. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jaida Long was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Long was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
Long wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Young, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Young has hit this season.
Newton's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Kittatinny Regional, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-9 record.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton will take on Hopatcong at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kittatinny Regional, they will square off against Sussex County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
