Basketball Recap: South Point Comes Up Short

On Sunday, the South Point Pointers were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-41 to the Washington Blue Lions. That's two games in a row now that the Pointers have lost by exactly four points.

Washington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Roman Chijevsky out in front who went 8 for 13 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Chijevsky a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Haithcock, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for South Point and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Washington, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

South Point didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-46 victory against Dawson-Bryant on the 16th. As for Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-41 win against Hillsboro on the 17th.
