The Liberty Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Del Sol Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Liberty took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Las Vegas 3-0.
Liberty never let Las Vegas on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-21, 25-22.
Meanwhile, Del Sol came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Grizzlies. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted since March 29th.
Del Sol had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13, 15-13.
Liberty better keep an eye on Xander Besser. He was instrumental in Del Sol's win, getting 11 digs and two aces. What's more, Besser posted two assists, the most he's had over his last six games.
Del Sol was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive contests.
Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 20-10. As for Del Sol, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Liberty skirted past Del Sol 3-2 in their previous matchup on April 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
