Football Recap: O'Fallon Takes a Loss

O'Fallon played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 48-6 defeat at the hands of the East St. Louis Flyers. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Flyers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Gunner Hoffman threw for 66 yards and one touchdown. Samuel McCollum was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards and one score.

East St. Louis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reece Shanklin out in front who threw for 337 yards while completing 84.6% of his passes. Those 337 passing yards gave Shanklin a new career-high. Kortez Rupert also helped with two TDs in total.

O'Fallon's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for East St. Louis, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

O'Fallon has already played their next game, a 34-0 victory against LaSalle-Peru on the 24th. As for East St. Louis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 38-14 defeat against IMG Academy on the 25th.
