Soccer Game Preview: Pinole Valley vs. El Cerrito

The Pinole Valley Spartans will head out to take on the El Cerrito Gauchos at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pinole Valley headed into their last matchup having not scored more than one goal for four straight, but San Lorenzo let them put that streak behind them. Pinole Valley blew past San Lorenzo 6-1 on Tuesday. That looming 6-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

They hit San Lorenzo with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gabriel Echavarria (2), Sebastian Ocegueda (2), Brian Oliva, and Benjamin Haddad.

Meanwhile, El Cerrito waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 3-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Gauchos were the better team in the second half.

The victory got Pinole Valley back to even at 3-3. As for El Cerrito, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Everything went Pinole Valley's way against El Cerrito when the teams last played back in January, as Pinole Valley made off with a 6-3 victory. Will Pinole Valley repeat their success, or does El Cerrito have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
