Softball Game Preview: Central Davidson Spartans vs. West Rowan Falcons

The Central Davidson Spartans will venture away from home to take on the West Rowan Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Central Davidson came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-0 to Oak Grove. The Spartans have struggled against the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Central Davidson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Chesney, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, West Rowan faced East Rowan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Falcons walked away with a 5-1 win over the Mustangs. Winning may never get old, but the Falcons sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Arabelle Shulenburger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reese Poole was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was EA Nance, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

West Rowan's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Central Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
