Baseball Recap: Tigard Comes Up Short

Tigard was the 8-4 winner over West Salem when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers fell 8-3 to the Titans on Friday.

Tigard got a good showing from Grayson Rose, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. The Tigers are 2-1 when Rose allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-4-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Tigard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Fensler, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Alexander Pearson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Tigard's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for West Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.

Tigard is taking a road trip to square off against Lake Oswego at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for West Salem, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain View at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Titans are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
