Basketball Game Preview: Flint Hill Huskies vs. Episcopal Maroon

The Flint Hill Huskies will face off against the Episcopal Maroon at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Flint Hill is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Holton-Arms, posting a 76-40 victory. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Episcopal didn't have too much trouble with Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart on Friday as they won 63-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Maroon.

Flint Hill better keep an eye on Princess Akojenu. She was instrumental in Episcopal's win, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 14 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Akojenu has scored at least a third of Episcopal's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Genesis Villegas, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds.

Episcopal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 20 consecutive contests.

Episcopal's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Flint Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Everything went Flint Hill's way against Episcopal in their previous matchup on February 1st, as Flint Hill made off with a 48-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Flint Hill since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
