 With a playoff game on the line, the Elmira Express rose to the challenge  on Friday. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of  51-38. Winning may never get old, but Elmira sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
 Elmira was led to victory by  Mariah Matias and  Ellie Clearwater.  Matias  dropped  a double-double on 14 points and 12  rebounds, while  Clearwater  scored 21 points along with four  steals. Matias hasn't dropped below ten  rebounds for 17 straight games. Another player making a difference was  Ashaya Wallace, who  scored two points along with eight  rebounds and five  assists.
 Elmira's win was  their fourth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 12-8. Those victories were due in large part to their  offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Corning-Painted Post, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
 Elmira will face off against Our Lady of Lourdes at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Our Lady of Lourdes knows how to get  points on the board -- the  squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully Elmira likes a good challenge. Corning-Painted Post does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
