Softball Game Preview: Colfax Bulldogs vs. Freeman Scotties

For the second straight game, Colfax will face off against Freeman. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Scotties at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Colfax has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Colfax came up short against Freeman on Tuesday, falling 17-2. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Scotties recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For Freeman's part, Kaylee Ripke made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. Ripke has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mckenna Finley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Chloe Adams was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Freeman was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colfax only posted a batting average of .192.

The victory keeps Freeman at an undefeated 18-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average this season. As for Colfax, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Colfax hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Freeman struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
