North Muskegon unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates on Thursday, falling 35-6. The Norsemen lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 8-7 score last time.

North Muskegon and Pewamo-Westphalia should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Norsemen (ranked 115th) will meet Shelby (ranked 437th) at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. Meanwhile, Pewamo-Westphalia will take on Saranac at 7:00 p.m. on September 5 with a big rank advantage (123 vs. 346).
