Recap: Mountain View Toros vs. Horizon Huskies
The Mountain View Toros's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Horizon by a score of 48-45. Mountain View has struggled against Horizon recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Loss or not, Mountain View got some senior leadership from Sadie Gardner who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Axelle Robinson who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds. Gardner scored a full 37.8% of Mountain View's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Fischbeck, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Horizon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noel Gallegos led the charge by scoring 10 points along with 3 steals. Gallegos is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Brown, who scored 7 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Horizon, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Mountain View will head out on the road to face off against Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Westwood is ranked 97th, while Mountain View is ranked 82nd). Horizon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sierra Linda at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Hopefully Sierra Linda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Thursday.
