Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Boulder Creek Jaguars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lions duke it out with the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.

Liberty will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Mountain Ridge, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Liberty simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Mountain Ridge 53-21. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Mountain Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Emma Koker and Francesca Sofia were among the main playmakers for Liberty as the former dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds and the latter posted 14 points in addition to eight steals and six boards. That's the most boards Sofia has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilliana Welstad, who earned eight points and seven rebounds.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Boulder Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Mountain Ridge by a score of 39-32 on Friday.

Boulder Creek's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-19. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.

Everything came up roses for Liberty against Boulder Creek in their previous matchup last Tuesday, as the team secured a 67-27 victory. Will Liberty repeat their success, or does Boulder Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
