Football Recap: Lexington Eagles vs. George West Longhorns
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lexington had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the George West Longhorns to the tune of 76-0. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
A big part of Lexington's victory came down to the chemistry between Kase Evans and his top target Noah Wright-Harris. Evans threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns while Wright-Harris rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Evans has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Weston Bayer was in the mix too, providing Lexington with two touchdowns.
Lexington wouldn't let George West keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Lexington can thank Gabe Turner and Trace Kieschnick for forcing both of them.
The win was the fourth in a row for Lexington, bringing their record for this year to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.8 points per game. As for George West, they moved to 9-3 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.
Lexington has already played their next game, a 50-27 victory against Poth on the 29th. George West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
