Basketball Recap: Gilbert Christian Takes a Loss

Gilbert Christian was the 43-37 winner over Mingus when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Gilbert Christian Knights were outmatched by the Mingus Marauders and fell 40-13. The match marked the Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Addie Hansen was Gilbert Christian's leading scorer, having posted four points. Alyssa Cervantez held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mingus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savannah Tobias, who posted eight points along with 15 boards and six blocks. Tobias has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 35 times she's played. Kenna Cook was another key player, going 6 of 14 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Gilbert Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Mingus, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Gilbert Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 42-25 win against Marana on the 14th. As for Mingus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-49 victory against ALA - West Foothills on the 14th.
