Coleman proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Merrill Vandals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Comets have posted since May 9th.

Coleman let Isabelle Lewis and Klaira Sysak run wild. Lewis went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Sysak went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Sysak has posted over her last 18 games. Brystal Berthume was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Coleman has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Merrill, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Looking ahead, Coleman will face off against Breckenridge at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Merrill, they will challenge St. Louis at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vandals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
