Basketball Recap: GV Christian Comes Up Short

GV Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Sunrise Mountain Miners at home by a 54-36 margin.

Loss or not, GV Christian got some senior leadership from Ellie Thurman and Samantha Charron. Thurman dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards, while Charron dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thurman has scored all season.

Even though they lost, GV Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Sunrise Mountain was led to victory by Delyla Ross and Shoniyah Williams. Ross posted 20 points, while Williams put up 17 points. Giselle Serrano-Almeida was another key player, putting up eight points.

GV Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Sunrise Mountain, they moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

GV Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-28 loss against Boulder City on the 3rd. As for Sunrise Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-9 win against Cristo Rey St. Viator on the 3rd.
