Softball Game Preview: Valley View Tigers vs. La Feria Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Valley View Tigers challenge La Feria Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley View has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Valley View came up short against Grulla on Tuesday, falling 14-4.

Meanwhile, La Feria came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Tarpons a 16-0 shutout. The Lions' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

La Feria's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Valley View, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Valley View might still be hurting after the 14-8 defeat they got from La Feria in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
