Basketball Recap: Alexander Central Gets the Win

If Ashe County wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Alexander Central, they should've done a better job of containing Jayon Connor. The Alexander Central Cougars breezed by the Ashe County Huskies to the tune of 59-29 on Friday thanks in part to Connor, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was his tenth in a row with at least ten points.

Kade Flowers was another key player, putting up six points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

When it comes to explaining why Ashe County lost, don't look at Bryce Peters. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points. Peters is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Alexander Central now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Ashe County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alexander Central will face off against Watauga at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Watauga knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 games -- so hopefully Alexander Central likes a good challenge. As for Ashe County, they will square off against Hibriten at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashe County is facing Hibriten at the right time seeing as Hibriten is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
