Baseball Recap: Bloomfield Gets the Win

Bloomfield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Shiprock on Thursday. The Bobcats never let the Chieftains get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won seven in a row.

Troy Jaramillo made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one triple. Bloomfield is undefeated when Jaramillo posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnny Yates, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gavin Pecotte, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Bloomfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shiprock only posted an OBP of .050.

Bloomfield's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Shiprock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Coming up, Bloomfield will challenge Gallup at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shiprock, they will face off against Rehoboth Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Chieftains' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lynx have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season.
