Football Recap: Fayette Academy Takes a Loss

Fayette Academy extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were dealt a 49-14 defeat at the hands of the Trinity Christian Academy Lions. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-7.

As for Trinity Christian Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points over those games.

Owen Atwood had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 81 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 133 yards and one TD while completing 83.3% of his passes. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was Gabe Lee, who picked up 115 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Fayette Academy and Trinity Christian Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Vikings see the field they'll take on Harding Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their break will end when they face Donelson Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
