Acorn had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-6 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Westside Rebels as they made off with a 16-9 victory. Considering the Tigers have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
As for Westside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-16-1. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
For Westside's part, Ayla Highfill made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Cato, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Acorn will welcome Cossatot River at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Westside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountainburg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
