Baseball Game Preview: Brother Rice Warriors vs. De La Salle Collegiate Pilots

The Brother Rice Warriors will head out on the road to take on the De La Salle Collegiate Pilots at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brother Rice's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so De La Salle Collegiate's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Brother Rice fell victim to St. Francis de Sales and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 6-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, De La Salle Collegiate got themselves on the board against Avondale on Saturday, but Avondale never followed suit. They didn't even let the Yellowjackets on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Pilots haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

JJ Weimert looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Mason Pilarski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Mark Gerardi was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

De La Salle Collegiate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

De La Salle Collegiate's record is now 13-2. As for Brother Rice, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7-1.

Brother Rice couldn't quite get it done against De La Salle Collegiate when the teams last played back in March as they fell 5-1. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
